Archaeology Dig and Discovery Center
The outdoor archaeology dig and research tent as well as the indoor archaeology Discovery Center—which holds original artifacts from the ancient Near East—give families the opportunity to journey together into the past and discover what they have in common with people who lived centuries ago. Roll up your sleeves, don an archaeologist's vest, and sift and sort through the remains of an Iron Age city buried beneath the sand to discover fascinating clues about life in the ancient world.
Family Art Studio
The Skirball's drop-in Family Art Studio offers an ever-changing menu of creative projects for families to work on together. Facilitated by local artists, these projects often incorporate recycled and repurposed materials—from cloth and canisters to widgets and wire—and focus on exploring the ways creativity and caring for our world can converge through art.
Festivals, Performances, and Special Events
Throughout the year, the Skirball brings together people of different generations and backgrounds for family-friendly festivals, performing arts programs, and other large-scale events that celebrate community and cultural diversity. Enjoy live concerts, dance performances, storytelling, art making, and more. Visit the Family Programs page to see what’s coming up!
