Gather beneath the Harvest Moon for an outdoor celebration of music, nature, ritual, and community. Just days before the Jewish harvest festival of Sukkot, celebrate the season’s abundance and contribute to a communal harvest altar. Explore interactive stations that engage the senses and deepen our connections with the natural world in an immersive experience designed and guided by ceremonialist Devorah Brous of FromSoil2Soul.

The evening includes a ritual performance with traditional Aztec dance ensemble In Tianextli Tlacopan and Jewish ritualists guiding the community in shaking the lulav, followed by a live DJ set featuring sacred beats by KCRW Music Director Ale Cohen. 

Blending contemporary festival energy with ancient, Jewish earth-based wisdom, this full-moon-inspired harvest party welcomes everyone.

7:00 pm | Doors Open and Activities Begin in the Taper and Founders Courtyards
Explore four immersive stations with FromSoil2Soul and encounter Earth, Air, Fire, and Water throughout the courtyards. Make your own lulav bundle with local LA artisan Eric Hernandez and create wearable lulav and etrog–inspired floral art with master gardener Mud Baron. Enjoy live improvised music and light bites around the Skirball’s community sukkah. Sip a specialty Sukkot-inspired cocktail. Other drinks, snacks, and food will also be available for purchase.

7:45 pm | Honoring the Elements and Four Directions
Shake the lulav and etrog in gratitude for abundant harvests as traditional Aztec dance ensemble In Tianextli Tlacopan leads a ritual performance honoring the elements and the four directions.

8:45 pm | Live DJ Set
The celebration transitions into a live DJ set with KCRW Music Director Ale Cohen. Feel the beats, mingle, and enjoy the festival atmosphere beneath the night sky.

9:45 pm | Closing Ritual
Come together for a brief communal ritual to close the evening with intention.

Devorah Brous (she/her), a ritual artist, traumatic grief counselor ,and herbalist, is the founder of FromSoil2Soul, a regenerative healing practice. She designs immersive, plant-spirit experiences that weave ancient and emergent practices to guide people through the nature of grief with fierce tenderness. A TEDx speaker, and two-time nonprofit founder, she holds two master’s degrees, and is currently completing a book on Jewish grief tending. She lives with her family on a thriving urban homestead in LA.

Sukkot is a festive, week-long holiday celebrating gratitude, nature, and community. Family and friends gather in a temporary outdoor hut or dwelling, called a sukkah, to eat, socialize, and appreciate life’s simple joys. ("Sukkot" is the plural form of "sukkah.")

This joyful festival encourages everyone to slow down, reconnect with nature, and embrace hospitality by welcoming guests into their sukkah. It’s a reminder to celebrate life, even its fleeting moments.
